General System Description

Counter Doors are metal slatted rolling doors used to provide security against entry or weather protection at exterior and interior openings in industrial, commercial, institutional and other buildings.

Face of Wall: Maintains clearance of full opening, minimal exposed components.

Between Jambs: Mounts within the opening, fascia (front hood closure piece) required.

Interlocking roll formed flat-faced 1-1/2” high slats with endlocks riveted to ends of alternate slats to maintain curtain alignment and prevent wear.

Standard Material & Finish: .040” thick clear anodized aluminum or 22 gauge galvanized steel with exclusive GalvaNex™ finish in light gray or 22 gauge stainless steel with #4 finish

Interlocking sections are fitted with high strength endlocks on alternate slats each secured with two ¼ inch (6.35 mm) rivets. Endlocks built to maintain slat alignment and to withstand 20 PSF windload.

Bottom Bar:

Reinforcing member attached to the bottom of the curtain. Equipped with vinyl astragal/weather-seal to cushion the contact point on the counter. Locking mechanism  available.

Standard Material & Finish: clear anodized extruded aluminum for aluminum and galvanized curtains or stainless steel #4 finish for stainless steel curtains.

Optional Material: steel with SpectraShield® powder coating Cornell gray

Side rail assemblies that bolt to the wall and support the entire weight of the counter door unit.

Standard Material & Finish: two piece clear anodized extruded aluminum sections with polypropylene pile runners

Optional Materials: stainless steel or steel with SpectraShield® powder coating Cornell gray

Counterbalance Shaft Assembly:

3" minimum diameter outer shaft and 5/8" minimum inner shaft. This assembly supports the curtain and contains counter-balance torsion springs for assisting operation.

Standard Material: steel

Minimum 16 gauge steel plates that bolt to guide assembly and support the counter balance shaft and curtain.

Standard Material & Finish: steel, with SpectraShield® powder coating Cornell gray.

Coil cover (the hood) is made of 24 gauge galvanized steel with reinforced top and bottom edges. In wider doors, steel intermediate support brackets are required with minimum ¼ inch (6.35 mm) to prevent excessive sag.

Hood Finish: GalvaNex Coating System to include a galvanized base coating treated with dual process rinsing agents in preparation of a chemical bonding, light gray baked-on polyester base coat and a light gray baked-on polyester finish coat. The scientific organic material composition and chemical bonding process of GalvaNex produces a superior finish against corrosion and abrasion, minimum 0.6 mils (0.015 mm) cured film thickness. GalvaNex components include a limited two year finish warranty.

Bottom Bar: Replaceable and compressible vinyl gasket extending into guides. (Bottom Bar weatherstrip will be eliminated if safety rubber strip is installed).
Guides: Vinyl strip sealing against fascia side of curtain.
Hood: Neoprene baffle to impede air flow above coil.

Push-up operation shown. Hand crank, tubular standard motors are available. Counter doors operate by rotating the shaft gear end. The opposite end of shaft applies spring tension and is equipped with a spring adjusting wheel.
